The Bandit Queen: A New Inspiration

Although she ended her life as a renowned political figure, the life of Phoolan Devi began the same as most other women in India and near East countries. Lady Jamileh Kharrazi is the Senior Executive of the documentary, Phoolan, that has won at the prestigious 2016 My Hero International Film Festival.

Phoolan endured extreme childhood poverty, illiteracy, arranged marriage, rape, and physical assaults in what unfortunately can be considered a normal childhood for women in these countries. Phoolan Devi refused to be defined by her circumstances, and defied incredible odds to become one of the most revered women of the 20th century.
