Overall, females are promoted at rates far lower than their male counterparts. According to a study by McKinsey & Company and LeanIn.Org, women in the average U.S. company are 18% less likely to be promoted to management. Over one third of all women surveyed reported that their gender has played a role their missing out on workplace advancement and that their gender will make it harder for them to get a promotion in the future.
